Park Chinois

Best in class Chinese fine dining

Steamed Kamchatka King Crab, 5yr Shaoxing Wine, Rice Noodles

This is my second visit to Park Chinois, located in Mayfair, many people rate this fine dining Chinese restaurant as the "poshest" Chinese restaurant in the UK, with most main courses at around the £40-£50 mark. However, there is a pretty decent value for money 2 courses set lunch at £30 per person, which is a good way to experience what Park Chinois can offer at an affordable price. The reason I went back to Park Chinois was simple, the cooking was fantastic and the use of ingredients was nothing to sniff at. Park Chinois source really high-quality ingredients from around Europe and Asia, combining with the cooking skill from the very experienced kitchen, it creates some of the best Chinese food I have experienced in the UK.

Black Truffle Dumpling & Scampi Shumai
Wild Sea Bass Lardo Roll
Dim sum selection
Fish Maw in Double-Boiled Fish Bone Broth

I kicked off my meal with some dim sums, the XO Hokkaido scallop dumpling was to die for, very savory with a hint of sweetness and spiciness, along with a well crafted and eye-pleasing pastry. The steamed Kamchatka king crab... what a special dish it was, cooked with some very floral Shaoxing wine and egg white, the crab was so moist, blessed with so much umami seafood flavours, with the rice noodles absorbed all the beautiful essences. Cantonese roast duck with an orange was almost like a French take on Chinese style roasted duck, the skin was so crispy, and I really enjoyed the sourness of the sauce which offset the richness of the tender duck, it was very enjoyable.

Grilled XO Black Cod with King Soya
Gamberi Rossi, Prawn Cake, Sakura Shrimp, Winter Bamboo
Cantonese Roast Duck à l’Orange Sauce
Mandarin mousse, chocolate fondant, coconut ice cream

It was yet another really top quality meal, there wasn't one single dish that I did not enjoy, everything was well made and full of lovely flavours. After trying a few difference fine dining level Chinese restaurants around London lately, it is fair to say Park Chinois stands above than the rest, and it totally deserves a Michelin star in my view. Exquisite Chinese food with a stunning dining room to match, I got nothing but love for the place. It might be expensive, but the quality of the cooking does match the price.
