The Ledbury

Still the champ

Lobster, shitake, asparagus

For the regular readers of my blog, I am sure you are aware The Ledbury is my no1 restaurant in London for a fine dining occasion. There is just something special about this place that no other restaurants can match in London. The service is world class for a start, as is the quality of the cooking, which has a perfect balance of creativity, elegance, and taste. Chef-owner Brett Graham has maintained the high standard for over 10 years now and is rare to see a restaurant to be at the top of the game for so many years. For my 12th visit, I opted for the tasting menu, as usual, knowing that I will be in for something really special.

amuse bouche
White asparagus, grapes, comte
Grilled giant oyster
Morel mushroom, onion, buffalo milk curd

The meal got off to an amazing start, with a giant 10 years old grilled oyster with potato butter, it was so creamy and full of the aroma of the sea, with a killer smooth texture. The native lobster with mushroom was an interesting dish of using the earthiness profile of the mushroom to enhance the sweet taste of the lobster. It was perfectly executed, and the sugar snap garnish added a lovely crunchy taste. The Ledbury is known for its game dish and the Berkshire Muntjac was sensational, the meat was so tender and seasoned to perfection. The beetroot and red cabbages offered a soft bitterness and sweetness, which worked like a treat with the richness of the meat, it was a faultless dish.

Chicken, black pudding, plum
Berkshire Muntjac, red cabbage, beetroot
Passion fruit, lemon, doughnut
Pear, apple parfait, artichoke
Brown sugar tart

As expected, The Ledbury delivered yet another truly outstanding meal, there wasn't a single dish I didn't enjoy, all the dishes were done in such a fine manner that I just got nothing but love for. I feel if any restaurants deserve a 3rd Michelin star in London, The Ledbury should be the one. Once again, the service was also on top form, super professional with a touch of class and flair. What can I say, The Ledbury is really that great, and anyone should give it a go if you are seeking a very special fine dining experience.
