Park Chinois

 Exquisite Chinese banquet

Peking duck with caviar

When you have a big group gathering, Chinese food is a great choice as you are able to follow the classic banquet style, where you can have lots of large plates of food to share. And when it comes to Chinese cuisine, Park Chinois in Mayfair is without a doubt at the very top food-wise. It houses some of the most experienced Chinese cuisine chefs in the UK. I am a big fan of the venue, as I have been visiting a few times every year. I opted for a chef's special banquet-style set menu for my recent visit (19th).

Clams, turbot and shrimp soup

Salt and pepper langoustines

Poached chicken with abalone

Park Chinois' duck is for me, the best in the UK, and the bite-size version with caviar was seriously delicious. The super dry and crispy skin was blessed with a bold meaty taste, the richness of the meat, combined with the caviar, it delivered such a rich and exquisite taste. The salt and pepper langoustine had to be the most luxurious salt and pepper dish I have encountered, cooked perfectly with crunchy flavoursome clothing on the outside, the langoustine itself was as sweet and fresh as you can get. The pork belly two ways was a comforting dish, the meat was super moist and the richness from the moi choi sauce delivered such a deep sweet savoury taste.

Dinner at Park Chinois is always a special experience, but the banquet style uplifted it to another level. I was able to try some sophisticated dishes, as well as some Cantonese classics. Besides the fine ingredients the restaurant is able to source, the talented kitchen team is what makes the food special at this restaurant, with some dishes that required some old and labor-intensive Chinese cooking techniques that not many Chinese chefs are able to master in the UK. For a special Chinese food occasion in London, this is the choice for you.
