Whisky and Chicken
|Bull In A China Shop|
Bull in a China Shop is a brand new Asia whisky bar that's located in East London, just a few minutes walk away from Shoreditch High Street overground station. I am a massive fan of Japanese Whisky and there are simply not enough bars out there taking advantage of such a wonderful product, good Japanese Whisky can rival any fine Scotch, so I was really excited to find out about Bull in a China Shop, and the launch seems to be very successful with a majority of the national press giving it a thumbs up.

We ordered a few different Japenese cocktails and the stand out star of the lot was the Wabisabi, a smoky cocktail using Hakushu Single Malt with green tea syrup and walnut bitters, the glassy and nutty notes balanced off the peaty aroma of the Whisky brilliantly, a finely crafted cocktail. The charcoal brioche chicken burger was indeed impressive, the coolness and sourness of the picked ginger offset the oily element of the crispy fried chicken and the brioche bun itself was light with just a tiny hint of smokiness. But what was even better was the house special rotisserie chicken, it was very different to other Asian style chicken I have encountered, the flavour was very special with a combination of oaky, fruity, spicy characters and a beautiful balance of sweetness and saltiness, very tender and moist as well, just pure heaven.

All in all it was a great evening at Bull in A China Shop, a fun and refreshing concept but executed finely. A great selection of Japanese Whisky based cocktails with a killer signature chicken dish. The cocktails are expensive but then again Japanese Whisky itself is a very luxury product in the UK down to the limited quantity in production and the high cost import fee. If you love whisky and chicken then this is a must visit place if you live in London, you will not be disappointed.
