The Ledbury

The peak of London fine dining

Lobster, caviar and cauliflower

I can believe this is my 16th visit to The Ledbury, the fine dining restaurant has had a makeover since relaunched back in early 2022.
One thing I really enjoy about the place is that, unlike many other fine dining restaurants, it doesn't care much for unusual or wacky concepts, and is all about prime ingredients, cooking to perfection with smart flavours combination. This means I can revisit often when I am in search of great tasting food, with a regularly changing menu. Places like Dinner by Heston, with a menu largely remain the same for over 5 years, not somewhere I would head back in a hurry.

Chicken wings, truffle and artichoke

Trout, roe and hollandaise

Iberico pork, skin and beetroot

The tasting menu was one hell of a ride with some truly world-class dishes. The lobster with cauliflower cream was refined, I enjoyed the creamy cauliflower texture, which worked like a treat with the buttery taste of the fresh Cornish lobster, the extra bit of caviar made it extra special that added a great hint of umami taste to the whole dish. The star dish without a doubt was the Iberico pork jowl, it was finely seasoned, cut like butter and almost tasted like a pork version of a wagyu beef. Gosh it was in fact perhaps the best tasting pork dish I have ever encountered. In fact, I would say all the dishes were either great to excellent, not a single fault dish at all, truly sensational.

Venison, bone marrow and heart

Braised shoulder and truffles

Mille-feuille

Come the 2023 Michelin Guide, I think it will easily get back to the 2 stars level without a doubt. The quality of the cooking is unquestionable at The Ledbury. New dining room, with a mixture of old and new team members. I think The Ledbury has it takes to gun for 3 stars and renter the World 50 Best lest in the near future. Perhaps Brett isn't that fuss with all those things as his prime focus is already about providing customers the best experience, and you will be hard to find another restaurant in London that can rival that.
