The River Cafe is perhaps the most famous Italian restaurant in London, a smart casual cafe, cooking seasonal Italian cuisine by the River Thames in Hammersmith. The River Cafe is well known for its popular cookbooks, excellent wine list as well as a holder of 1 Michelin star. The restaurant only does a A la Carte menu with about 6 choice for each course, it does not offer a set lunch menu like most other Michelin-rated restaurants in London.
Beside classic Cantonese cuisine, Korean BBQ is probably my second favourite Asian comfort food. When it is done right, it is just a thing of beauty, sweet and savoury rich tastes with an irresistible smoky aroma, all cooked in front of you in a specially designed table with a grill in the centre. SuperStar BBQ is a brand new Korean restaurant that was located on St Giles High Street, right next to the infamous ramen joint Ippudo, together with Byron and Kanada Ya, the street is slowly turing into a trendy fast food hub.
Part of the Melia Group, Cucina Asellina is a New York styled Italian restaurant inside the 5 star hotel, ME at the Strand. This is actually my second visit to the restaurant, having eaten there about 3 years ago when it newly opened, I must admit I wasn't a big fan back then as the food was decent at best and very pricey. But Cucina Asellina has change the formula and format of the menu completely with some very positive consumer comments, therefore I was eager to try out the place again when one of my friends requested a recommendation to a good value Italian restaurant.
Located just off Tottenham Court Road, Han Kang is a traditional Korean restaurant that specialise in BBQ food with karaoke rooms at its basement. It is a shame that since the government decided to expand Tottenham Court Road tube station, most of the Korean restaurants in that area were forced to closed down and Han Kang is now one of the very few classic Korean restaurants left. For a special birthday celebration, a group of us booked in for dinner and in one of its private karaoke room.
