The Ledbury

London's fine dining temple

Hand Dived Scallop Tomato, Cucumber and Apple Marigold

Back again to my No1 London joint The Ledbury, not sure what else I can add really, it is simply the best fine dining restaurant in London. I personally have eaten at every single 2 and 3 stars western-style restaurant in London in the past 12 years, some with multi visits, but I just find The Ledbury has an edge. Chef-owner Brett has taken sourcing ingredients to another whole world of meaning and is now breeding his own animals, from Iberico pigs to deer.

VealSweetbread Corn, XO Butter and Finger Lime

Lobster tail with pumpkin

Hen of the Woods Potato, Yeast and Rosemary

Autumn/winter means game season so the menu contained some fabulous game dishes.
The veal sweetbread was sweetbread at the highest level, creamy and not overly rich, the sweetcorn puree worked like magic, it was a sweet umami sensation. The Ledbury is known for its pigeon dish and it delivered the best pigeon dish I have encountered in the UK. The beetroot and blackberries offered a softly sweet and earthy taste, while the pigeon itself as super tender and well-seasoned. Every single element was perfect, and when everything was combined together, it was a masterpiece on a plate.

Pigeon, beetroot, blackberries

Deer, black tea, olive

Dark Chocolate Chantilly Cherries, Sake Ice Cream and Shiso

It was another world-class meal, and everything was special. London is lucky to have such an amazing restaurant. Since The Ledbury relaunched, I have been 5 times already and a total of 19 times over 10 years. This place is my most visited restaurant in London as I never had a bad meal. Come 2023, it will for sure regain its Michelin star status. Part of me doesn't want it to happen as it will mean is hard to book a table and more expensive for sure!
