Rock and Roll Asian
USDA beef short rib – bo ssam style |
Shackfuyu is part of the Bone Daddies empire by Ross Shonhanies, it has just recently been relaunched after a short refurbishment. Ross is a master of engineering Asian food with Western cuisine influence, he has done a tremendous job with his other two restaurants, Bones Daddies Ramen and Flesh & Buns. They were both excellent and now two of the most popular Asian restaurants in London. The menu at Shackfuyu seem to have an even greater wide range of global flavours, from French, Korean, to Mexican and Japanese.
Scallop sashimi |
hot stone rice – sesame – chilli – beef |
wild cornish seabass – orange miso |
iberico pork pluma – spring onion – black pepper miso |
lamb neck fillet – kimchee tare |
kinako french toast – soft serve ice cream |
Shackfuyu went totally beyond my expectations, the quality of the ingredients were truly fantastic. I also really enjoyed the great range of East Asian flavours in its dishes, it keeps you coming back to try something new. With the rock and roll themed of the venue, plus the Soho location and decent services, it is hard to imagine Shackfyyu not be a success. But bear in mind that this isn't a cheap restaurant, without the soft launch offer, my bill would have costed me almost £50 with just tap water to drink. But then again you are getting some of the very best modern East Asian cooking in London at that price bracket.
