Zelman Meats is new restaurant in Soho launched by the Goodman team at the former site of Rex and Mariano (R&M). R&M was a great affordable seafood restaurant so I was sad when it was replaced by Zelman Meats. As you would have already figured out from its name, Zelman Meats is all about slow cooking and smoking good meats. Price wise is mid range, a notch above Flat Iron but nowhere near as expensive as Goodman.

 Sicilian red prawns

First, we had the ever popular Sicilian red prawns, the freshness was second to none and in fact, it was just as good as the same dish from Beast! The slow cook pork rib was moist and had a good balance of smokiness and sweetness, it was easily one of the best piece of rib I have tasted so far this year. The star of the night was the medium rare chateaubriand, it was everything what a good piece of fillet should be, tender and soft with a sensational melt in your mouth texture. It had a great depth of rich but settled taste to it, so nicely done that any sauces were absolutely unnecessary.

The team behind Goodman has once again nailed it. Simply put, Zelman Meat is perhaps the best value for money steak joint in London right now, the quality is outstanding at such an affordable price, you can't go wrong with it. This is the kind of restaurant I would keep on going back as it ticks all the box for a restaurant: Great location, bookable, well priced, great service and excellent food. This is the place for me to go from now on whenever I need a good dose of meat treat.
