State-of-the-art fine dining

Veal sweetbread, black garlic and white truffle |
I kept finding myself back at The Ledbury but for good reason. There are so many new fine dining openings in 2022 but for sure there are some pretty average places that charge silly price tags. Sometimes, classic revisit trump over new fancy openings and when we talk about classic, The Ledbury is for sure the 1 for most foodies' minds if you ask any 1 their no 1 fine dining restaurants in London. This is the case for me too. Since reopening in early 2022, it serves only a tasting menu, but they are very adaptable to adjust if guests give them notice in advance.

Cornish lobster, artichoke, caviar and shellfish sauce |
From a recent tasting menu, I found 2 dishes especially stood out. Veal sweetbread is one of those items that when goes wrong, could taste extremely unpleasant but amazing when done right, and of course, Ledbury's version was world-class, it was smooth in texture with a bold savoury taste, I really liked the black garlic which offered a hint of spices, and the drop of white aroma matched the garlicky aroma really well. The Cornish lobster was also outstanding, cooked in a rich shellfish sauce which created such an inviting seafood aroma, the addition of caviar offered a touch of luxury as well as worked great as a seasoning, the lobster itself was really moist and sweet, I couldn't fault it. |
Mushrooms, potato, Iberico pork and white truffle |

Jersey beef, onions, olive and aubergine |

Red deer tongue, heart and dumpling |

Dark chocolate, plum, sake |

Vanilla ice cream, koji and white truffle |
This was my 20th visit to The Ledbury, and it was as good as ever, I found the cooking really incredible and easily the very best I have encountered in London. What makes this place a touch special is the front-of-house team, the hospitality skill had such a great balance of charm and professionalism, and it is what set this place apart from other high-end restaurants in London. Come 2023, for sure it will land a Michelin star or 2, and even re-enter the World 50 Best list.
