The Ledbury

London's Fine Dining Champ

Trout, rose, apple

The Ledbury is my no1 London western restaurant and also the most visited too. This is my 22nd visit. The first time for me was back in 2012 and back then I was new to the fine dining game, but I already found The Ledbury was a touch better than anything. Fast forward to 2023, and that is still the case for me. Besides the exceptional quality of food, the service also hit the sweet spot for me with a blend of casual approach and professionalism. The business has taken a step up and is now also running a farm that breeds pork to a quality that other Michelin and high-end restaurants starting to buy from The Ledbury.

artichoke, truffle, waffle

Mackerel, plum, radish

Veal sweetbread, cep, ponzu

Wild seabass, brown crab,courgette, caviar

I am a sweetbread fan but only if is in the hands of a capable chef. The Ledbury's version had a beautiful creamy taste but not overly rich. The aged beef pozu was an interesting garnish as it offered a sour tone as well as a meaty taste that added balance yet more flavour. You can always count on The Ledbury to deliver outstanding meat dishes and this time was no different. The grouse was cooked medium rare with a really soft texture. The sweet and sour profile of the winter blackberries and beetroot worked well to offset the earthiness of the game meat, it also came with a killer game tea that was packed with such great depth of savoury taste.

Mushrooms, potato, rosemary

Game tea and grouse heart

Grouse, blackberry, beetroot, olive

Strawberry, kelp pepper

I always have had a love for The Ledbury, they are able to keep on the high-level output year after year so despite there being many trendy and big names opening over the years, I still maintain a degree of loyalty and would keep revisiting every once in a while. The restaurant now even has control over its meat supply as they are breeder themselves, so I am really excited to how this place will progress further in 2024.
