Noble Palace

Pimped up Cantonese lunch

Dim sum platter

Noble Palace has long been one of my to-go Chinese restaurants since it was opened 2 years ago. Easy to book, lovely well-spread space, and good service are not something you would normally associate with a Chinese restaurant, but Noble Palace has all of these factors covered. Of course, the food here isn't bad either. I especially enjoy the dim sum here; it is high quality and reasonably priced. For my 19th visit, I visited over lunch with some dim sum as well as some classic breakfast/lunch items you would normally find in a classic Hong Kong style Chinese joint.

Steamed items have always been a strong offering at Noble Palace, I especially like the siu mai here which had a thin slice of parma ham on top of a shiitake mushroom, pork, and prawn filling. For me, this is the best version of siu mai anywhere in London. The one dim sum that I really enjoyed was the sweet eel wrapped in a crispy rice sheet followed by another layer of soft steamed rice sheet. The crunchy yet soft texture smashed up was wonderful, and the teriyaki eel's soft smoky sweetness worked so well with seasoned soy sauce. One of the special pre-ordered dishes was a lamb clay pot, cooked in yellow bean sauce with tofu sheets. That was seriously comforting as the fatty lamb belly was cooked on the bones and loaded with so much aromatic flavour, and the meat itself was so tender.

Noble Palace's dim sum offering has always been strong and at a reasonable price. Despite around the 12-pound mark per basket which is more than double what you can find in Chinatown, I would say it is worth it given the finer ingredients and better craftsmanship from the chef team. For classic Cantonese dishes, Noble Palace is one of the top places easily in London.
