Innovative flavours of the Mediterranean region
Salt cod churros |
Pork jowl |
Cuttlefish and monkfish |
Hake, sobrasada |
I ordered almost half of the menu and shared it among 4 people. The salt cod churro looked fun and served on a bed of tomato sauce, decent enough as a snack but nothing too special given it cost almost £10 a small plate, I was hoping for something more. The pork jowl was one of those dishes that I will always have time for, the skin was crispy as it should be but what impressed me even more was the well-seasoned, super-moist meat, it was pure class. The main event of Roasted Lamb 3 Ways was so beautiful and colourful, it contained lamb ribs, loin and shoulder, all cooked really well and all rested on ratatouille garnishes that were loaded with so many delightful summer flavours.

Morchella was a great discovery, they are doing something interesting and unusual, taking on Mediterranean cuisine but adding some creativity to make it unique and fun. Most of the dishes delivered some really powerful flavours thanks to the high use of herbs and spices, and of course, the kitchen are using some pretty high-quality ingredients too. Given that the venue changes its menu occasionally, Morchella is one of those places I would love to head back to when I seek some top-notch Mediterranean cuisine in London.
