Brooklands, located within the super luxury 5-star Peninsula hotel has been on my to-visit list for a whole. I enjoyed Chef Claude Bosi's cooking in the early days when he was still running Hibiscus in Mayfair. He has since opened Bibendum in South Kensington which I followed, and in late 2023, Brooklands launched and it landed itself 2 Michelin stars within 6 months, an amazing achievement but not one I was surprised given Claude is such a talented French chef. His Brooklands offering has a mixture of French and British flair, and I was interested to see what is it like vs his flagship Bibendum.

Great Fen Farm Celeriac Nosotto, Crab and Coconut |
I opted for the tasting menu to fully embrace the whole experience. The celeriac nosotto was a buttery, rich crab risotto dish that replaced the rice with celeriac. The freshness and sweetness of the crab were second to none while the sauce had a beurre blanc like thickness and creaminess, not for the faint-hearted if super-rich food is not your cup of tea. I really enjoyed the guinea fowl, very tender and the addition of an unusual element of razor clam somehow worked as the shellfish sauce worked like magic with the meat. The dessert at Brooklands was outstanding, the apple in muti forms was a work of genius as it captured the sweet and sour essence beautifully in muti layers of textures, while tasting so refreshing.

Brooklands for sure delivered a top-notch meal, while there are some dishes that I found questionable (the snail and lamb dishes were decent but not remarkable), overall it was a really enjoyable experience. Of course, I do feel there are better restaurants with food quality in London with similar price tags (such as Alex Dilling at Hotel Cafe Royal), but when I factor in the rooftop setting, with a classy aviation theme plus some really formal and professional service to go with Brooklands, this place really ticks a lot of boxes for what would consider a fine dining restaurant with the full package, aka view, decor, service, and food.
