Red Dog Saloon Soho

BBQ meat feast

Meat feast!

Red Dog Saloon is an American BBQ joint specialising in Kansas BBQ, this is its 3rd site in London after the original on Shoredtich and a second site at Clapham. Red Dog Saloon is perhaps best known for its infamous hot wing challenge, which I have managed to drag a friend to try it but failed miserably. I had the opportunity to take advantage of its 50% off launch offer and it was something too good for me to ignore, as how can you not love a good value BBQ meal?

From my experience at its Shoreditch site, I knew the beef brisket is pretty outstanding so that was exactly what I went for along with the pork ribs. And once again the brisket totally delivered on all fronts, the seasoning was perfect and the meat had a lovely richness to it, it was really moist at the same time, I could not fault it. The Pork ribs were inconsistent on the other hand, some parts were extremely dry and bland while other parts were very tender with a great sweet and savoury marinate dressing. I was a big fan of the burnt ends pie, the combination of the creamy and soft mash worked wonder with the powerful and bold taste of the beef.

I was too caught up with its hot wing challenge from my last visit so didn't manage to sit down and properly enjoy the food. But this time I had a very enjoyable meal at Red Dog, the BBQ, especially the beef brisket was really top notch. Service on the day was also excellent, our waiter really knew everything in and out about the food and drink, very friendly, but without going over the top which was pretty outstanding for a restaurant in its soft launch period. There are plenty of other American themed BBQ restaurants in London, but Red Dog is certainly one of the better ones.
