Blacklock

Meaty affair

Beef short ribs, pork loin and lamb culet
Summer is finally here which only mean one thing... BBQ season! There are many great BBQ places across London to choose from and you would find that Blacklock would feature in many publications when it comes to talking about great meaty places in London. The great value for money chops plus the Soho area proven to be a successful formula for Blacklock. 1 year later, it is now a popular restaurant and if it wasn't for the new bookable pre-theatre timing, I would struggle to get a table.

Pre chop bites

This time I went for the "all in", which contained all the skinny chops plus nibbles and a side. It was my first time trying the pre chop bites and they were all very impressive, I especially enjoyed the duck rillette which had a blend of spicy and sweet flavour. The pork loin was done at the perfect level, very tender but perhaps could do with a touch more salt. The lamb cutlet on the other hand was finely seasoned, cooked pink and the meat was really moist, it was the best chop out of the lot easily.

Charred apples, chicory and stilton

My latest trip at Blacklock was a major improvement from my first visit at the soft launch period. The chops were cooked perfectly this time and the food arrived at a good pace. There are also some big chops on offer which I have to come back for another time, as they all sound extremely tempting. Good cooking of grilled meat is easy to come by in London but very few are also great value at the same time. Blacklock is one of the very few.
