Slick seafood chain business in Amsterdam

The seafood is a mini seafood upmarket restaurant chain in Amsterdam, it has 4 restaurants across the city, as well as a seafood market shop. As you can suspect, it is all about fresh seafood, and the collection is pretty impressive. I went to the Spui branch, which is the biggest one out of the 4, located in central Amsterdam. It has an open kitchen, as well as a raw bar for all the cold seafood dishes. The menu is big and beside the usual seafood items such as tiger prawns, lobsters and oysters, there are also some other less mainstream items such as snow crab. You can have most of the seafood items either served cold in a classic way or grilled.

I opted for a few sharing platters for the occasion, to start, I had the local Fine de Claire oysters, which was very creamy with a very mild seafood aroma, it was very enjoyable. The cold boiled shrimps were fairly standard, and I was not much of a fan of poached seafood. However, all the items from the grilled platter were excellent. The Dover sole was cooked to perfection with a nice charred aroma plus a very moist texture, it was finely seasoned too. Both the lobster and king prawn was tender, buttery and soft, blessed with so much lovely umami flavours. It is impressive to see all the different seafood items for the platter executed so well as they require different timing and heat.

The Seafood Bar meal was simply fabulous, just fresh seafood done in a simple but proper manner. It is also extremely value for money, for a sharing mixed grill platter (contained half a lobster) and 3 oysters, I paid about the £40 mark. In London, you will need to pay at least double the price and most likely with a less quality outcome as well. The Seafood Bar actually reminds me of the seafood restaurant chain Wright Brothers in London, but just better in every single way. For any seafood lovers when visiting Amsterdam, this place is a must for sure.
