Park Chinois

Supreme Chinese cuisine champion

Stir fry native lobsters with egg noodles

Lockdown is almost over, with dining out is a possibility again. For top-grade Chinese food, if I only have 1 choice, Park Chinois would easily be the one for me. Having been there 10 times in the last few years, I don't recalled 1 weak meal. The restaurant is known for using top-quality ingredients sourced from all around the world, cooked expertly in a traditional Chinese manner with an elegant modern touch. You are paying a premium price for the experience but that also comes with a grand setting with live entertainment every evening. For my 11th visit, I went the classic Chinese feasting way, ordered a selection of large dishes, and shared them with my group.

The stir fry native lobster with egg noodles was stunning, cooked with red dates and wood ears mushrooms was a little touch sweetness to open up the freshness even more for the lobster. The lobster was sweet and tender, cooked to the perfect level. It was easily the best Chinese lobster dishes I have ever encountered.  A new dish on the menu was the pork belly 2 ways in a pot, with Cantonese roasted pork belly on one side and slow braised pork belly cooked on the other. The crunchiness of the crispy pork skin was second to none, and the preserved vegetables had a soft mellow sweetness and earthiness which worked perfectly with the pork. The dessert improved vs my last visit, the strawberry mousse came in a form of a pink ball with a light and refreshing fruity sweet taste, with the side of rhubarb added a lovely sour tone to balance it off beautifully.

Park Chinois has done it again, the dinner was truly wonderful, the cooking is easily the finest Chinese cuisine you can find in London, and I would rate it at a 2 Michelin stars level. It is really strange that the Michelin guide overlook it for some reason. I managed to try some classic dishes as well as new ones, and I enjoyed everything single dishes with a high degree. To sum it up, do pay a visit to Park Chinois if you would like to experience fine quality Chinese cuisine, you will be getting an exceptional tasting experience without any gimmicks or silly over the top garnishes. For sure I will return soon.
