Noble Rot Mayfair

The best of Noble

Warm Smoked Eel, Potato & Avruga Caviar

Noble Rot has been slowly expanding. I first encountered the OG site in Holborn back in 2016 and I really enjoyed the casual setting with outstanding wine over comforting French food. Since then, Noble Rot has also launched 2 other sites in Soho and Mayfair, and the menu is still consulted by the respectable chef Stephen Harris. The Mayfair site appears to be more upmarket than the other Noble sites, with more luxury ingredients and a higher price point per dish. Fine by me as long the cooking justifies the price tag.

Anjou Pigeon, Peas & Morels

For my starter, I had a smoked eel dish that come with potato and a good load of Avruga caviar. The smoked dish's oily and salty flavour worked really well with the mild taste of the caviar, while the potato acted like a sponge that absorbed all the lovely taste. Interestingly enough this dish reminds me of the Michelin 3 stars roe and potato dish from Core, but at 1/5 of the price yet taste quality-wise, it wasn't far off. My main event of Anjou Pigeon Leg was stunning. It was cooked to perfection and all the garnishes worked in harmony to uplift the dish to a level that has Michelin star quality written all over it, with the morels, bacon and peas each added a combination of sweet and umami taste.

Roast Lamb, Borlotti Beans, Artichoke & Curd

Duck Egg Custard Tart

Noble Rot Mayfair is the best out of the 3 Noble sites easily. The cooking is far more refined, but it still retained a rustic French feel. This style reminds me of the legendary Chez Bruce, and you know what, I think Noble Rot's offering is not far from Michelin's 1-star status. This is pretty amazing considering it was launched only in April. For French cuisine 3-course meal around the £70 mark at the highest quality, I think Noble Rot is the place in London
