The Breakfast Club

Worst launch of the year?

Cow vs Pig' burger

Part of the Cross Rail project at Canary Wharf is now complete with a good number of restaurants opening on the first weekend of May including The Breakfast Club and Sticks’n’Sushi. A fellow blogger kindly informed me that there was a 50% off soft launch offer that weekend with The Breakfast Club so I decided to tag along. The Breakfast Club serves simple American cuisine and now has 7 restaurants across London with further expansion under way. Sadly, my trip to the newly opened Canary Wharf branch was a real nightmare and by far the most disappointing restaurant visit in 2015 so far.

It took almost 20 minutes before a waiter decided to take our orders, in between I called to a good numbers of waiters and one of them smiled at me and walked away, WTF?? And the food was equally disgraceful. My 'Cow vs Pig' burger was by far one of the worst burgers I've ever encountered in London, worst than Five Guys and Shake Shack, that is an incredible achievement in itself. The pulled pork was dry and tough, and so was the beef patty, it was totally tasteless and barely warm, I wonder how long the plate was left on the kitchen pass. And it just got worse with our drinks order, half way into our meal the drinks still hadn't arrived even after chasing the waiter on more than one occasion.

The All American

What can I say? It was a dinner that I won't forget any time soon and for all the wrong reasons. Horrible food, poor time keeping and dreadful service, the perfect recipe for a disaster. How can The Breakfast Club get it so wrong? You would imagine a brand new restaurant operated by someone with no hospitality business experience would commit such  a mistake, but The Breakfast Club is a multi chain business with years of experience and significant investment behind it. Even with the 50% off offer, I still didn't see it was value for money and there is no way I would ever want to visit it again. Oh did I mentioned they have one of the most annoying websites?
