Duck de Chine |
To celebrate Chinese New Year, a Chinese banquet-style feast with a large group of friends is a must, and it was easy for me to pick Park Chinois as the ideal venue for such an occasion. The upmarket, modern Chinese restaurant is a favorite joint for me whenever I seek somewhere special. The cooking level is at the highest standard and easily is the best Chinese restaurant in London. Since the turn of the year, the chef team has added some new dishes so Chinese New Year was the perfect occasion to try out some of the new dishes, as well visiting some classics.

The duck de chine, Park Chinois' version of Peking duck was sensational, the skin had a juicy crunchy texture. There are many great Chinese restaurants that turn out good Peking duck, but Park Chinois' duck stands well above the rest. The grilled black cod is a mainstay on the menu since launched and is easy to understand why. The fish was flaky and creamy, with such a lovely natural sweet taste, just the fruitiness of the pomelo added a touch of freshness, easily rivaling the miso black cod at Nobu. The Salt baked chicken really showcase the ability of the chef team, taking a classic Chinese dish to a higher level, I really enjoyed the bold turmeric and salty flavour, and the meat was as tender as you can get from a chicken.

Another delightful dinner at Park Chinois ( and oh gosh, my 16th time!), the cooking style of leveraging traditional Chinese cooking methods and turning out modern, refined dishes with bold flavours is the winning combination for me. The food is simply stunning and I am sure I will return again in the near future. For those who are seeking top-level fine dining Chinese cuisine, forget Michelin places like Hakkasan or A Wong, this is the place for you.
