Lita Marylebone

Top-notch classy grill house

Grilled 1.6kg Cornish turbot

Lita is a new grill restaurant that prides itself on turning out Mediterranean-style cuisine, with plenty of fire action using top ingredients sources from around Europe. What really caught my attention was its menu, as most of the dishes sounded so inviting, with plenty of Spanish/Italian elements (my fav European cuisine) and combined with some really top ingredients. When a restaurant decides to use Limousin sweetbread and Galician beef, you know it is a serious restaurant that wants to provide top-level dishes.

Pan con tomate, Cantabrian anchovies

Dorset surf clams, artichokes alla Romana

Porcini, Parmesan, lardo di Colonnata

Langoustine and squid rice

A pan con tomate dish combined with Anchovies was an interesting take on Cantabrian cuisine, it somehow worked well as the richness of the fish and the freshness of the tomato created a great balance, it was very inviting and a great way to kick off the meal. The Grilled Yorkshire pork chop was a surprise as it was a lot better than I had expected, the pork was very tender and a combination of peach and mustard was the perfect granishes as it offered a fruity note and sharpness to the meat. The main event of a whole 1.6kg wild Cornish turbot was also lovely, cooked just right as the fish remained extremely moist, with a small hint of smokiness from the open-fire cooking method which I enjoyed.

Cornish monkfish, fennel, heirloom tomatoes, bouillbaisse

Cornfed Anjou poussin, apricot

Yorkshire pork chop, mustard fruit, peach

Kentish strawberry mille-feuille, Madagascan vanilla, timut pepper

For me, Lita is a lot like Brat and Mountain, but better in every aspect. Both of those sites can be so crowded and seating is not the most comfortable, combining the fact you are given only a set time to dine and then they would rush you out, it just doesn't sit right for me and you are paying more than £100 per person. In contrast, I love Lita's decor, the service, and of course, the food is well executed too. I really enjoyed so many open-fire concept restaurants popping up and Lita is easily one of the finest in London. Given the menu is pretty big and ever-changing due to the availability of seasonal ingredients, I would love to return someday.
