Traditional Cantonese feast

When you look at the dishes from Imperial Treasure, you might find them not far apart from dishes you would encounter in Chinatown yet the price is far higher. Yet somehow it has gained a loyal following, especially in the Chinese community. The main reason would be that it uses far superior ingredients, they would use a whole prawn in a har gow instead of chopped-up prawn paste, and they would use Iberico pork for char siu instead of some random frozen low-price pork as an example. Everything all cooked in a very traditional Cantonese manner.

You can find so many Chinese restaurants that serve crispy prawn rice rolls but the version from Imperial Treasure is the real deal. It was stuffed with some whole prawns and wrapped inside a crispy tofu skin, it was refined and had a lovely texture. The baked Chilian seabass was outstanding, the fish was so soft, and the skin benefited from the honey sauce so it was sweet and crispy at the same time. The final savoury dish was a Cantonese roasted duck and it was pure class, the meat was very tender and it had a crunchy crispy skin, and it had some lovely flavours from the plum, spices and soy, I think this well could be the best Cantonese roasted duck you can find in London.

This is my 12th visit, since I went in a large group I was able to order more or less the whole dim sum menu, along with some ALC dishes that I had a great memory of so returning for more, and most things were done well. Imperial Treasure for sure is not the cheapest place for Cantonese cuisine, but when you want to upgrade your dim sum feast into something a bit more classy with good service to match, this is an ideal place, especially if you seek very authentic, traditional Cantonese-type food as this is the hallmark of the venue.
