Blossoming into something special

Nestled in the prestigious Knightsbridge district of London, Nanyang Blossom brings the vibrant culinary heritage of Southeast Asia to life. Chef-owner Darren Liew has a wealth of experience in high-end Asian cuisine in the UK, his approach is all about beautifully blending traditional Asian elements with a modern lens to provide something fresh, interesting yet comforting. What I enjoy about this place is that you can offer a budget, then Darren would come up with a bespoke menu to suit your taste, and that is what I opted for my 5th visit.

Grilled Iberico pork skewer |
The grilled honey and soy-baked Chilean seabass was fantastic, it was cooked to perfection, super soft and smooth in texture, yet so creamy at the same time. The sweet umami flavour reminded me a lot of Hakkasan's signature dish that used a similar method, but this is another level above. The main event of grilled wagyu beef had a melting texture as expected, along with a mild smoky note. A few dashes of soy sauce uplifted the beef's taste beautifully, I got nothing but love for it. Just when I didn't think it could get better, the final savoury dish of egg fried rice with crispy dried shrimp and fresh lobster was sensational, lovely wok aroma and the rice had a lovely chewy texture and was blessed with so much umami thanks to the shellfish, very enjoyable.

Whether you’re a seasoned fan of Southeast Asian cuisine or looking to try something new, Nanyang Blossom offers a delightful culinary adventure. Each dish here tells a story, echoing the rich culture and flavours of South East Asia, encountering familiar things, but feeling new and exciting at the same time. I would rate my 5th visit as the best so far, as the kitchen team is now more settled. For anyone looking for excellent South East Asian flavours with a creative take, you can't go wrong with Nanyang Blossom.
