Cornus, located near Victoria Station in London's Eccleston Yards, is the latest venture from the team behind Chelsea's esteemed Medlar restaurant. Situated on the top floor of the renovated Ice Factory building, Cornus offers diners a refined ambiance with white tablecloths and diffused natural light. The culinary direction at Cornus is led by Executive Head Chef Gary Foulkes, whose impressive resume includes tenures at The Square and the Michelin-starred Angler, Gary is a talented chef, and I have been to Cornus 2 times before. I returned once again after Cornus just landed itself a Michelin star in the 2025 guide.

I opted for the tasting menu once again. The Devon crab dish was easily the best dish; the refreshing and light flavours got my vote. I really enjoyed the combination of lime, wasabi, and avocado; it managed to uplift the freshness and sweetness of the crab. I wasn't a fan of the snail dish, the parsley ravioli felt heavy and clashed with the mushrooms, it was a very rich dish, which felt out of place when it was sitting in front of a fish course. Toward the end, there is an outstanding dish, which was the guinea fowl; it had a soft, gamy bird taste and was well seasoned. The meat was tender, and the use of hazelnut and truffle added an elegant nutty earthy finish that worked so well with the guinea fowl.

Overall, Cornus presents itself as a sophisticated dining destination with a focus on luxury and culinary artistry in a modern British way. There were some excellent dishes, especially the crab and guinea fowl dish. Interestingly enough, I found my first visit to be the most enjoyable, and that visit contained plenty of dishes that Gary took from Angler. The newer dishes, like the snail and pasta dishes, it was good but missing the wow factor. If you come here and go for the ALC menu, I would suggest going for the seafood items, as that is what made Gary famous back at Angler.
