Noble Palace

DIY tasting menu

Peking duck with black truffle pancake

Noble Palace is a Chinese restaurant unlike anywhere else in London. The beauty of this place is you can request what you want to eat provided you inform the restaurant in advance. All you need to do is let them know what Chinese dishes you would like (even if is not on the menu), and then they will come back with a quote. So in a way, you can totally DIY your menu to suit your taste and occasion. For my recent 2 visits, I first had a casual lunch visit, followed by a bespoke 8-course tasting menu, in which all dishes were requested in advance.

Seafood dim sum platter

Xiao long bao

Rice roll filled with grilled eel

24 hours slow cooked beef cheek in clay pot

Steamed Scottish scallop

From the first visit, the dish I enjoyed the most was a slow-braised beef cheek in yellow bean sauce. It was cooked for 24 hours which resulted in such a melting, inviting texture. On my second visit, the tasting menu kicked off with a giant Scottish Isle of Mull scallop, it was meaty and creamy. The natural sweetness of the scallop was outstanding, the drop of seasoned soy sauce completed this dish wonderfully. What really stood out for me was the seafood clay pot, it was packed with Chilian seabass, scallops, and giant prawns. The hot sizzling sweet garlic sauce delivered a big depth of umami aroma, and all the seafood was cooked perfectly. It was a dish loaded with so much bold, enjoyable taste.

Crispy skin from Peking duck

Steamed turbot with soy
Grilled Iberico pork char siu
3 cups chicken, sesame oil, soy and rice wine

Clay pot of prawns, seabass and scallops

Another two great meals from the team at Noble Palace (my 14th & 15th no less), while the DIY tasting menu feels like you have a private chef cook to your liking, the casual lunch selection from its alc and dim sum menu was also solid. The price is not the cheapest but for sure you are getting far greater cooking and better ingredients compared to anything you would find in Chinatown.
